MaryLee Pakieser, MSN, RN, NP
President

MaryLee Pakieser has been an RN since 1972 and a nurse practitioner since 1995.  She currently practices at the VA clinic in Traverse City.  Ms. Pakieser has been very active in ANA/MNA and was the MNA President serving 2 terms 1999-2003.  She is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau from 1995 to present and a founding member of RN-AIM.  She is also involved in the Northern Lakes Community Mental Board (appointed in 2003) and is the Chair of the Nominating and Leadership Committee.

Nancy George, PhD, FNP-BC
President-Elect

Nancy George has been a nurse practitioner for 18 years with experience in nurse-managed health centers based in community, hospital and academic settings.  Since 2004 Dr. George has served as an assistant professor (clinical) and assistant director of DNP Programs at Wayne State University College of Nursing.  She continues to work as a nurse practitioner in the Campus Health Center and is active on the Faculty Practice Plan Board that manages this student health service.

Dr. George is a graduate of Michigan Technological University and Bronson School of Nursing.  She received a master's of science from the University of Michigan and subsequently completed their Family Nurse Practitioner certification program and earned a PhD in nursing.

Dr. George has been a MICNP member since 2002, is the immediate past chair of the Political Action Committee, current chair of the APRN Coalition task force.  She is a past delegate of the MNA Convention and has been active in MNA and Sigma Theta Tau-Lambda Chapter.


Annelle Kaspor, MPH, FNP
Secretary

Annelle Kaspor resides in Traverse City.  She has been an RN since 1975 and a nurse practitioner since 1980.  Annelle has had several positions in advanced practice that include:  Women's Health, Neurosurgery, General Surgery, Physical Medicine and most recently, Primary Care.  In 1996 Annelle was awarded "Nurse of the Year" by her district nurses association (MNA).  In the same year, she also received the "Outstanding NP" award from MNA.  Annelle is a member of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.  She currently works full time in Primary Care in Traverse City.

Christopher E. Hermann, MSN, NP-C
Treasurer

Christopher Hermann is a graduate of the Henry Ford Hospital School of Nursing in 1979 with a BS in Business in 1987 (Siena Heights University) and a MSN in Adult Primary Care from Wayne State University in 2001.

Chris spent the majority of his general nursing career in the Henry Ford Health System in Critical Care, Emergency Department and Ambulatory Care.  His experience crossed the clinical and management areas of both acute/critical care and ambulatory care medicine.  His Advanced Practice has been entirely with the VA Medical Center in Detroit caring for vets from World War Two to the current Operation Enduring Freedom conflicts in Afghanistan and the Mideast.  While at the VA, he has been involved with both ambulatory and acute care.  He currently is serving with the hospitalist service.  Chris also maintains his primary care skills through the Advantage Homeless clinic in Detroit.  He maintains his ties with Wayne State University as adjunct faculty precepting NP students and guest lecturing.

Chris has been an active member of MICNP serving as its first State-wide president in 2004 and now on the Executive Board as Treasurer.  He was active pushing many legislative acts improving access to NP services and has testified often in front of legislative committees.  He stresses the need for all NPs to be active in the organization as well as in the community as advocates for health and wellness.
